Gavin wanted to put together a Lego set he got for his birthday. So I sat down with him to help, but instead I end up watching him fascinated that here he is this little 6 year old, following the instructions and building this boat or ship or car or whatever it is. There were a few times he got hung up and I wanted to just show him what he needed to do, but I just sat and waited while he figured it out. You might be wondering why I am so intrigued by this. Two reasons 1- I love that Lego's teach boys to read instructions. I am wondering if this future generation will be able to build things without having to start over or call their wives in to read them the instructions. It is a long shot I know and some things will never change but I like to think that what I am letting Gavin learn now will help him sometime in the future. Reason 2- which I have to admit is purely self indulgent. I love watching my kids do things. I recorded the first 4 years of Gavin's life, because I have always been so intrigued with what he is doing. Please let me know if anyone else does this.

countdown

So now that I can not count the weeks but the days till Beehive Bazaar I am getting just a wee bit tense. I am not stressed yet and I am most creative under pressure so I have that going for me, but seriously I can't believe there are only a mere 5 days left. Maybe I should take my own advise and go bake something. Any other ideas?

I don't want to grow up

I hate taking my kids to the movie because it takes that fun out of it for me after you shell out money for the tickets and for popcorn {which I still have not found a way to sneak in}. So this is my solution. Let the kids build there own movie theater with the cushions from the couch and some blankets, pop some popcorn turn off the lights and watch a movie of their choice.

Gavin turned 6 on Wednesday I am so sad to have a 6 year old. where does the time go, I remember when he was just a baby and I rocked him to sleep every night. I digress...Back to the party Gavin wanted a laser tag party, but when the guest list was about 18 kids strong we opted for plan b. Tell everyone to bring a dart gun and have a dart gun tournament in the gym of the Church {yes you can use the church for personal use if you call and schedule it}

What a better way to end your birthday than at Chili's for endless chocolate milk, chips and salsa and a birthday shake.

Quirk... I think so

I was organizing some pics on my computer and I realized I have tons of gavin's head that are all self portaits. I now have a file for all of these humdingers called :gav's face: I thought I would share a few.

I am telling you this is the funniest kid you will ever meet.

so many

First of all I know I should have announced already that you will be seeing yours truly at Beehive Bazaar. We have been concocting many a thing for this show and you will not be let down.

Next I would like to turn you all onto this baby...

Our grandmothers and great aunts have it right. Mu mu's are by far the most flowy, silky and comfortable thing to wear. If you knock on my door anytime before 12:00 this is what you will see.

Lastly a little story...

7 years ago I watched a scene from an up and coming broadway musical not yet opened. It totally changed me and I have never forgotten it. Fast forward to yesterday where I finally got to see the entire show...

I went with my sisters Celeste, Tiffani and my brother.in.law Chris.

The show was spectacular, I even teared up due to the awesomeness. After the show we slipped out to the stage door and met up with the actors.

Elphaba

Glinda

I am so glad I got to go, I overheard some ladies who sat next to me saying that this was their third time seeing Wicked and this cast was the best by far. I have not seen it anywhere else but I have to concur.

Okay
So I did a little research and you can fly to only a few places for the $50 but you still can fly to a bunch of placed for $100 and that is still pretty cheap for tickets. So I ask again for you all to give me ideas. No rain on my parade just some good ideas. thanks love ya

go where you want to go

A friend told me about a little promo southwest airlines is doing right now. If you buy your tickets this week you can fly thru the summer anywhere in the Continental US for $50 one way! I have decided that even though money is shall we say tight, Chad and I need a vay-kay so bad. So I have one week to decide where we should go. I want you all to tell me your thoughts, I want somewhere unexpected so no San Diego or Vegas. And if I pick your spot I will bring you back a souvey.

A few things

My darling class celebrated by un-birthday on Friday. Yea for un-birthdays.

Gavin finished up his first basketball camp. I know already that I am gonna be "that mom"

my two favorite parts in this clip are first when he points to chad after making the shot because what you can't hear him say to chad is "I am schooling these guys" and then second when he comes down he cleans the bottom of his shoes, just like the big boys. We are in trouble.

Milo now gets his own drinks of water.

And gavin asked me if he could add sugar to his cereal. He did not tell me however that he had not intention of putting milk in the bowl at all. {yes all the white you see is sugar not milk.}\

hump day

An eventful week I must say.

- Gavin finally decided that it was time to master a bike with NO training wheels.
- Also for some random reason his first baby tooth decided to fly the coup. Chad wanted Gav to pull it our himself but when that didn't work the master had to step in and I had to pull it out.

So now #1 is minus one tooth

- Culture Club was again a wonderful event. I ate Indian food for the first time and found out that even though I have hated it all my life, curry is really rather good, and I don't like lamb at all. Also we brushed up on our Hebrew and Yiddish by watching a foreign film about two people who keep two escaped convicts as guests just so they can get prego. {aside from my synopsis it was good}

- Spring Into This is tomorrow night and I have almost half of the things I need to do done, so that should make for a late night tonight. Yea!!

- Milo climbed out of his crib twice and so last night Chad had to take off one side and turn his crib into a bed so he would not fall when climbing out.. When Chad went to check on him he found this...

I guess he was climbing out so he could sleep on the floor.

Chad put him back in bed and when I got home I found this...And when I saw my baby sleeping in a bed rather than the crib I would like him to be in I did this...

I guess chad thought that taking a picture of me crying about the situation would be a good thing. Thank goodness he followed it with a hug.

Not bad for it only being Wednesday. Maybe the rest of the week will hold my kids deciding that growing up is not fun and they will stop doing all these milestones at once. What are they trying to do make me baby hungry?

Be there

A bunch of us have decided to throw this little shin-dig out there. I am not kidding when I say some of the cutest and freshest handmade items will be for sale. You will not want to miss this {does this sound like enough of an advertisment} Seriously though, come it will be tons of fun and you will find some great things.

20.2.09

So I am not sure why this post has taken some time. Long story short, me and this partner in crime decided to open up shop on Etsy. We were really particular about packaging. And this is what we came up with.

Wouldn't you love to have everything you order online come cutely wrapped.

The Grammys were yesterday. For those of you who did not tune in. I will re-cap.

The theme of the evening was definitely COLLABORATION. Seriously, there were some random sets but also some great ones. Sir Paul played an oldy but goody with Dave Grohl on the drums. And if you are in to that kind of thing Taylor Swift dueted it with Miley Cyrus.

Highlights included Robert Plant and Allison Krauss winning record and song of the year. Thank goodness the people that get to vote have good taste, cuz if Lil' Wayne would have won I might have thrown something at my T.V.

A bittersweet moment was Kings of Leon losing out to Coldplay. Sad because again Kings of Leon lost, but happy because they will still be too awesome of mainstream.

Also give MIA huge points for performing in what can only be described as a maternity ladybug costume.

That is the Grammy's in a nut shell, also worth mentioning BLink-182 annouced that they are getting back together. Yeah!

Valentines

So as much as we don't want to, every female is anticipating this coming Saturday. My question is what should I do for it. I always do something for Chad but this year I am not sure what to do. So I want some help from all of you. Please give me some ideas. Also what do you do for your kids, I want some cute ideas in that department as well. usually I have all this taken care of, but for some reason I am have creativity block.

C.C.

I know it was a couple of weeks ago but this one was worth it for me. The first ever culture club for the Utah county chapter kicked off a few weeks ago. What a better way to soak of some than at the BYU Art Museum. I left feeling totally inspired. Dan Steinhilber has an exhibit right now that everyone should see. It makes you see the inner art in everything.

I am never throwing away my dry cleaning hangers again.

Me and one of my C.C. sisters

This piece is HUGE it takes up one whole end of the room.

The best piece for sure. Although when you go you will probably get into trouble for this move.

In another exhibit I found this gem. I love art with history behind it.

In a nutshell it was wonderful and I highly recommend it.

I have been super excited to post about this for a while now.

These are pictures of our kitchen.

AFTER

I love my kitchen now. This kitchen would still be stuck in 1992 if it weren'tfor our friend and favorite handyman.
